A Little Bit about Me
Hiya! My name is Kathleen McAlister and I am a writer of many thoughts and some poetry, painter of landscapes, and perpetual maker of Spotify playlists (my true spiritual gift). Born in South Philly, raised in rural Kansas, educated in Western Pennsylvania, and recently returned from two years of cross-cultural ministry in South Dublin, Ireland, there are many stories that have shaped my imagination, many landscapes that have a claim on my heart, many places I call home.

I've been writing for a very long time, but now find myself in a season of profound tensions, living in the between of nearly every facet of life--in my work and stage of life, geographically, culturally, relationally, and often emotionally. It is this in-between, I am learning, where most of life occurs, this space between sorrow and joy, on the hillside between mountaintop and valley.

So I created this blog, the waystation, as a place in the in-between for rest and refreshment, for thoughts (some deep, some frivolous), for tears and laughter, for celebrating the music and art and stories that God uses to buoy our souls.

In my spare time, I watch a lot of British mysteries, read, run, and continue my search for both my favourite IPA and the best local coffee. I love laughter, long hikes in beautiful places, and sharing new things I've learned.
