waystation
Contemplations from the in-between.
Home: Welcome
way station (noun)
1: a station set between principal stations on a line of travel (such as a railroad)
2: an intermediate stopping place
We commonly frame our experience of life as a journey, a movement ever onward from birth to death. Life, however, is also a way station, a place between what has been and what ever will be, a stop along the never-ending road of eternity.
There are seasons of life in which we are more aware of being in-between, when we feel the tension of the the already and not yet, when we live aware of paradox. It is here that we can meet God with such clarity and tenderness. It is here that the unbearable is made bearable, here that we get glimpses of the broken being made perfect, here that in our in-between lives we begin to understand our Lord who is himself neither one thing or another, who is "high and holy, meek and lowly."
